Lessons are available to adults and children ages 4 and up.

There are two ways to take a horse riding lesson or driving lesson at Nicholas Villa Stables, by the month or a la carte one lesson at a time.

Monthly Academy Riding Program

After a FREE initial riding lesson and barn tour, riders sign up for a lessons a month at a time, for a fee of $100. This includes:

• Three 30-minute private riding lessons, of which all time is mounted instruction.
• One Saturday per month riders attend a fourth session at the barn, a Stable Mangement Class of 1-2 hours in duration. Groups of students follow themed units of unmounted instruction relating to the health, care and management of the horse and stable. Stable Management day is a favorite of all of our riders!
• Our experienced instructors put safety first, and appropriate horses are used according to a rider's ability.

No special equipment or apparel is required to start the program other than sturdy boots with a heel and long pants. After you are enrolled in the program for 3 months and you are sure the program is a good fit, riders should plan on purchasing a helmet, Kentucky jodphur style riding pants, and gloves.

You are welcome to purchase more than three riding lessons a month. Many riders that go on to participate in horse shows want more time in the saddle and those lesson are available a la carte.

This structure allows riding to be accessible to any rider, from the horse-crazy school-aged child to the beginner adult, and from there on up. After much research we are priced on a par or lower than many other after-school activities and sports in our area and have a tremendous response to this offering. One Lesson At A Time

In town for the weekend? On your way to visit the beautiful CT/RI shoreline, historic nearby Mystic attractions, or the nearby casinos?

Riding lessons are also available a la carte for visitors who love horses and wish to have a wonderful riding of driving experience on our pastoral and beautiful farm. A la carte lessons start at $40 for 30 minutes or riding/driving time and $80 for an hour which adds on 30 minutes of what we know you will find a very rewarding time learning about and participating in the care and preparation of the horse, as well as your riding or driving time of 30 minutes.
